Alot of AmericInn hotels have rooms with private whirlpools and they are usually reasonably priced in comparison to other hotels. There are AmericInn locations in Stillwater, Oakdale, and Inver Grove. You get free breakfast, too!

The biggest difference is the size! Afton Alps is so much bigger! To give you an idea - Afton has 18 chairlifts and Welch Village has only 9. If you are trying to decide where to go I would definitely say Afton Alps! Afton is bigger, has more chalets, has more terrain parks, has night skiing (I'm not sure if Welch does or not), and has 3 rental areas! Oh and if you do go to Afton I'd suggest taking a lesson - their ski school is really good!

Yo dude I'm from mn originally just moved out to breckenridge colorado! Welch is stepper and has way less and slower lifts. Afton has like 18 lifts has supurb parks and is a lot better. Welch is steeper but the hills in mn are so small it doesn't really matter. Afton wraps around a wedge shaped hill and actually has some decently long runs. Welch is a straight down ice chunk not spread out all. Besides lutsen and spirit Afton is the best mn has to offer, definitely the best near the twin cities metro.

Did they tell you that you would be notified by mail? Usually the department supervisors are at the job fairs to hire people so i'm surprised you haven't already been told yes or no. The first mountain I worked at told me right at the interview I had the job and when to start. The one i'm at now called me a few weeks after the interview to tell me I had the job ( the interview was during the summer, months before the season started). It seems a little weird that they would wait so long to get back to you this close to the start of the season, and then that they wouldn't just call or email you. If you don't hear anything after the first week from your interview, you may want to call Human Resources or the supervisor you had the interview with to ask on the status of your job

Here is their webiste: http://www.aftonalps.com/ most of the things you are asking are on there. There is not a hotel or lodging at the resort - Hastings is South of Afton and there are some nice shops there. You are on the southeast side of the Twin Cities so there is a lot of shopping there including the Mall of America. Hastings itself is a small town.
