Full question:

I heard that Utah has the lowest crime rates, best city reviews and the nicest people. With five national parks (Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Zion), Utah has the third most national parks of any state after Alaska and California. In addition, Utah features seven national monuments, two national recreation areas, six national forests, and numerous state parks and monuments. The Moab area, in the southeastern part of the state, is known for its challenging mountain biking trails, including Slickrock. Moab also hosts the famous Moab Jeep Safari semiannually. Utah is well known for its winter activities and has seen an increase in tourism since the 2002 Winter Olympics. Park City is home to the United States Ski Team. Utah's ski resorts are primarily located in northern Utah near Salt Lake City, Park City, Ogden, and Provo. In 2010, for a fourth year in a row, Deer Valley, in Park City, has been ranked the top ski resort in North America by more than 20,000 readers of Ski Magazine Idk What do you guys think?

A) What is the probability that at least two of them decide to go to the same resort? B) What is the probability that all three friends end up going to the three resorts? Now a Fourth friend, michael, decides to go skiing on the same day as well. He is going to decide between resorts C, D, A or S. Answer the following based on the four friends going skiing. C) How many possible outcomes are there now? D) What is the probability that at least one of the four friends goes to resort S?

Best answer:

There are 3 * 3 * 2 = 18 cases 1 where they all go to A 10 with two together 7 with all different (APS, BAS, BSA, BPA, BPS, PAS, PSA) A) P(2) + P(3) = 11/18 B) wording is unclear. If it means all 3 together, then 1/18. C) 3 * 3 * 2 * 4 = 72 outcomes D) P(at least one S) = 1 - P(nobody goes to S) = 1 - (1 * 2/3 * 1/2 * 3/4) = 1 - 1/4 = 75%
