How does someone from Inkom Idaho publish a book?

I live in Inkom Idaho and I want to publish a book I don't know where to begin though, I've worked on a story that I've rewritten for 4 times now and when I'm done with it again for a fifth time I want to publish it, but how? Where do I get it edited? Is it better to publish online? Or to look for some publisher near the area? Regardless to the fact I'm not giving up I've come to far and quitting is not an option for me haha.:) so please help me!

All writers, no matter where they live, go through the same steps. They are as follows: 1.Write a book. 2.Market the book (this is the stage you are at). 3.Sell the book to a publisher. 4.Work with the publisher to produce the book. 5.Promote the book when it is released. 6.Writer another book (which you should start doing as soon as you have submitted the first book to your first publisher (who will almost certainly reject it). Actually you are going to be spending a lot of time on step one and two for the next few years. I know this sounds daunting, and it is. But every published writer has to follow these steps if they want to become a successful author. So, step one. Make sure your work is the very best you can make it before proceeding to step two. Five rewrites is about right. Step two. Marketing is time consuming and frustrating. But it is not really all that hard to do. Mostly you submit your work, then sit around waiting for some editor to read your proposal and either ask for the complete manuscript or send you a rejection. Get used to rejection, do not take it personally, and do not let them discourage you. All authors who submit work get rejections (even Stephen King). It’s part of the process. So…if marketing is so easy, how do you go about doing it? I’m glad I asked. First get a current copy of the Novel and Short Story Writer’s Market. This book lists all of the legitimate publisher in the US and Canada, what they are looking for, and any special instructions they have for your submission. How do you prepare a submission? This magic book explains that in detail too. In the first section of the book are a number of articles on writing and publishing. They are interesting, and you should read them to gain insight into the industry you want to join. One of the chapters/articles (and it is only four or five pages long) explains in detail how to prepare a manuscript and how most publishers want it submitted to them. Read the publisher requirements in the list of publishers for details on what they want in the package. And that’s it. That’s how you submit your work to publishers in the hope of selling it and becoming a best-selling author. Good luck….
