How to improve my skiing ability?

Full question:

So, I have been skiing for a long time, and I'm fine with groomers and pretty good with powder. Can you give me some tips on how to ski powder? Also, I want to learn how to jump off cliffs, learn tricks, be okay in the terrain park, etc. So can you please help me? I ski at Kirkwood Mountain Resort (in California) by the way....

Best answer:

True powder is skied like it is not there. Flex and extend the legs, steer the skis, balance on both skis. For the rest of it, take lessons. Practice, practice, practice.

Does anybody know of a or have a comprehensive list of all the nearest Ski Resorts around South Lake Tahoe?

Full question:

The reason I am asking is because some resorts that I have been to aren't listed on official Lake Tahoe websites, which makes me wonder if they are leaving out resorts which I can ultimately factor into my event planning. Thus far I already know of: Heavenly Mountain Resort Kirkwood Mountain Resort Sierra-at-Tahoe Ski Resort To my understanding, these are in South Lake Tahoe, so I'm wondering if there are any other resorts near this area that I don't know of.

Best answer:

Those are the only South Lake Tahoe ski areas. Squaw, Northstar, Alpine, Homewood, Diamond Peak and Mt Rose are all North Lake Tahoe ski areas. Sugarbowl , Donner and Boreal are closer to North Lake Tahoe, but really should be considered Donner, Truckee areas North Lake resorts would be about an hour or two (depending on weather and specific resort) away from South Lake Tahoe.

Best Resort In Lake Tahoe?!

Full question:

We are planning a snowboarding trip to Lake Tahoe- not really sure which resort to stay at? We are Young (20s-30s), but the social scene is not that important... its about the boarding! Can I get a little comparison of Some (All) of these resorts?! Whatever you can tell me about any of them would be awesome! Thanks!! Alpine Meadows Boreal Ski Area Diamond Peak Donner Ski Ranch Granlibakken Ski Resort Heavenly Ski Resort Homewood Mountain Resort Kirkwood Mt. Rose Ski Area Northstar-at-Tahoe Sierra-at-Tahoe Soda Springs Squaw Valley USA Sugar Bowl Ski Resort Tahoe Donner Downhill Ok.. I think we would like a little night life. Nothing to extreme, a local pub, good resturaunts would be great. I am NOT an excellent snowboarder, however my brother and his friend is and we would like terrain parks/ half pipes, etc. North/South? I'm not sure! I have been leaning towards Squaw Valley, so far it has everything I am looking for, I think?? I have been to small resorts and big resorts, I think i prefer the bigger ones... with more people (but dont want to wait in line too terribly long!) Also, we would like to stay in a ski in/ski out condo/hotel. Thanks for any info you have!!! Oh And! we will be traveling in early February..

Best answer:

Well alot depends on which area of Lake Tahoe you are going to visit and how good of a snowboarder you are. Are you looking for any night life. Are you going to be in North Shore or South Shore and what time of the year? I could give you some tips but need more info. I have lived here for 11 years and have been to most all of them.
