I have been told it is easy to get to La Plagne from here, is this the case? HELP Best answer:The vanoise cable car links them skiing in the alps for cheap?Full question:Hi i'm student in the UK hoping to ski at some point in the alps. i would prefer switzerland, but i'm open to anywhere (Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, Cortina, Bavaria, Austria, etc). i've found really cheap prices for flights from London to Geneva (around £45), decent prices to Zurich and Munich (£55), expensive to Innsbruck (£95), and absolutely dirt cheap to Milan (£25). i've been researching online amazingly beautiful places to ski, and really like what i've read about for Zermatt, chamonix, Les Arcs, Grindelwald, Davos, etc. however, it seems that the train travel from the airports to any of these places are ridiculously expensive (relative to my budget and my airplane ticket). my budget is about £200. i can only fly out on a Saturday (morning or whenever) and return anytime on a monday, so skiing on a Sunday. any help in finding the cheapest options, as well as the best values, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much! Best answer:In order to find the best possible price for a plane ticket, just remember a few things: 1- Search for advance booking 2- Search and compare several sites always! (the opportunity may show up in any site, so don't keep jut with one source if you found a good price once) Check this: http://www.hoteltraveltour.com/get-cheap-airline-tickets.html Just read the how-to, then search wherever you want. And, when searching within the sites, check the following: a- use flexible dates b- use alternative airports Skiing for beginners in France?Full question:Some friends who has never tried skiing want to try, but only have a few days. What should they be looking for? What would be good locations? This would be driving from Paris, in France/Switzerland. On the first point I can think of: 1) It should be good conditions right where they are staying. 2) The hotel should have everything they need (If they want to buy something for example). 3) They should have a private monitor. 4) It should be easy to get to nice places without being a good skier or perhaps without skis. 5) Sunny around the hotel where they are staying. Les Arcs 2000 for example, should have good snow, and there are gondols right up to 3226m. There are also some mountain restaurants easy to get to like the one just on top (“col de la Chal”?). Best answer:Hi! Have you looked at Chamonix France? It's good for beginners because: 1. There are two nursery slopes accessible from the town itself 2. There is the very gentle La Savoy Poma that is next to a flat field, where beginners gather their confidence and it is located out of the way of speeding skiers. This is a block from the town centre 3. There is the more extensive beginners area Les Plannards behind the train station 4. There are heaps of sightseeing activities if you want a break from skiing 5. If you're ready to progress to the next stage, there are really wide, easy, well groomed massive ski areas like Brevent, Flagere and Domaine de Balme within the Chamonix ski resort. There are long green pistes alongside long blue ones. So, it is ideal for those making the transition. 6. There are lots of fun clubs and bars 7. Chamonix is a really attractive town 8. The ski school has an excellent reputation and you can get private instruction if you choose. 9. It's really easy to get around and explore, using the free bus and free train (It's free when you have a valid ski pass) 10. The town centre of Chamonix Mont Blanc is south facing, so it gets the sun most of the day. Questions from Other CategoriesThe following questions were posted in various Yahoo's categories other than 'Snow Skiing' - hopefully they are relevant: When is the best time to go snowboarding at les arcs?Full question:I want to surprise my hubby for his 30th bday and he has always wanted to go to les arcs snowboarding what is the best time to go ? how long do ppl normally go for? and where are the best places to stay if your on a tight budget. Best answer:Without a doubt...early Jan!! It's cheap and the snow is FANTASTIC! I go there every year around the 10th Jan and every year we get the most amazing snow and great sunny weather! We go for a week, with Neilson (there's loads of other comapnied that go there...including, Ski world, Crystal...there's loads!) and stay in one of there self catered chalets...last year 6 of us went and it cost us £219 per person includes flights, transfers and accomadation! On a budget definately go self catered! Lift pass is extra though and it does depend which pass you go for! This last season the Vanoise express was closed, which is the lift that takes you from Les Arcs to La Plagne, so we couldn't get a Paradiski pass and Les Arcs pass was the only one available...but its more than enough for a week! You will have the most fantastic time it is an awesome area to board in! Oh and they have a great park....if you're up for that!!!!! Transfers from Geneva to Les Arcs?Full question:Hi, I am going skiing in Les Arcs in March and am trying to sort out my transfer. At the moment it looks like Ill be flying into Geneva, so I was wondering if anybody know some good, cheap websites where I can book a return transfer from Geneva airport to Les Arcs? All websites Ive checked so far are really expensive. Alternatively, can anybody recommend any websites that transfer from an alternate airport to Les Arcs? Thanks in advance! Best answer:Any transfer in the Alps is expensive, there's no way around it. Here is the mountain bus company for the region: http://www.altibus.com/index.aspx I believe the bus is the least expensive option (unless you're travelling with other people and sharing the cost of a minibus or taxi). If you haven't booked your airline ticket, it's sometimes cheaper to fly into Paris and get a train from Paris to Bourg St Maurice. Then there is a free shuttle to Les Arcs from there. The earlier you book, the cheaper the train is. http://www.tgv-europe.be/en/home/ Here are all the possible routes and transfers, compare the prices (which will depend on your travel dates): http://www.lesarcs.com/Access.html What is a good transfer company to get from Genevea to Les Arcs region?Full question:
Best answer:Les Arcs is nearly a six-hour drive away from Geneva, a taxi or a minibus transfer would cost you an arm an a leg. Instead, you might want to take a train from Geneva, which would take a little more than six hours (less if you take a TGV high speed train). Or you could also rent a car and drive there yourself. I know this doesn't really answer your question as to finding a transfer company, but I thought I'd share my thoughts anyway ;-) I am going snowboarding for 7 days in Les Arcs. What should i buy here and what should i hire in France?Full question:I allready have a ski jacket. I am thinking of buying some impact shorts, kneepads, goggles, gloves, and possibly boots. is that a good idea? Is it worth me buying salopettes, bindings or a board too? Best answer:France has massive stores like intersport and decathlon which have great deals on all equipment. If you are going in Jan you will be able to get most of it in the sales and sales prices in France will be better than sale prices in England. I went skiing for the first time last year and bought all my gear their (luckily I have a French boyfriend who is a ski instructor so he could advice me on the best purchases). One thing to bear in mind. If you buy in France, make sure you do not pack to much on the way out their. You do not want to be paying for excess baggage on the way home!!! Have great fun, Les Arc is great, that is where I went last year. Snow conditions At Les Arcs 2000, France in January?Full question:Does anyone know what the snow conditions are like, in January as Les arcs? Januarys in the past. Has it been a good month for skiing on average? Best answer:Next January? How in the world would anyone be able to predict so far in advance? Here's their website: http://www.lesarcs.com/?lang=en EDIT: Hey Madgreenbird...When we had record snowfalls in parts of the USA this winter and asked how this could be so if global warming were a fact we were told that global warming will produce MORE snow. So I sort of wonder how is possible for global warming to be responsible for both more AND less snow. Perhaps the really "inconvenient truth" is that no one really knows anything at all about predicting the weather. . le plagne or les arcs?Full question:we are going to France at christmas (13-20th dec), skiing and snowboarding, and we are going to either la plagne or les arcs. we went to arc 1800 last year, so are considering a change of scene. which one is better? and which is the best place to go in la plagne for good snow the first week of the season? any help will be hughly appricated. Best answer:I prefer la Plagne I spent there many times and loved it check under www.La Plagne.fr going on snowboarding holiday to France (les arcs)?Full question:(Going from England to France) I have the card that has replaced the E111 form, do i still need to get travel insurance? Best answer:Travel insurance is not only for Health What is the nightlife like in the French snowboarding (ski) resort of Les Arcs 2000?Full question:Just looking for general information really - is it lively / are there clubs / or will I be in bed by 11?!? Went to Andorra (Pas de la Casa) last year - boarding and nightlift were both fantastic and made it a brilliant holiday. Any pointers gratefully received! Best answer:There isn't all that much in the way of life in Arc 2000 to be honest, but there are a couple of reasonable(ish) bars. Fantastic access to the slopes though, and you might be able to wangle a lift down to 1800 for a night out if you chat to your rep/some of the seasonaires nicely... :-) where in val d'isere or les arcs can i find almdudler?Full question:
Best answer:Anywhere what is the telephone number for ucpa, les arcs, france?Full question:

Best answer:You're in the wrong category, les Arcs is not in Pays de la Loire, but here is their tourist office website with the list of accomodation. Just enter your criteria on the left: http://www.lesarcs.com/-Stay- What is the best European skiing or snowboarding destination for Easter snow?Full question:Thinking of going boarding over easter but unsure of good resorts, I have been to Chamonix and Verbier, Les Deux Alpes and Les Arcs. Got any other good suggestions? Best answer:Tignes in France is a good resort, especially if you are snowboarding. Also Vald'lsere in France and Mayrhofen in Austria are worth a look. How do I travel from London to Pisa via Draguignan?Full question:I want to go from London to Draguignan, France, on Thursday 21 August 2008 and travel from there to Pisa, Italy on Saturday 23 August 2008. It's rail or air - I don't drive. Les Arcs is the nearest big station. Nice is the nearest big airport. Best answer:Easyjet has budget flights from Gatwick, Luton, and Stansted to Nice. AirBerlin has budget flights from Stansted to Nice. Easyjet has flights from all three available on the 21st - the cheapest right now is Stansted. http://www.easyjet.com/en/book/index.asp. The train from Nice to Les Arcs Draguignan takes between an hour and an hour and a half depending on the specific train. From Les Arcs Draguignan, you can take the train to Pisa. You'll need to change at least twice in either Nice or Ventimiglia and in Genova. The total travel time will be at least 8 hours. You can use this site to check specific schedules: http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en Unfortunately, there are no direct flights between Nice and Pisa. You could connect through Rome on Alitalia in about 3 hours, but with short notice it will be expensive. Another option would be to go to Paris and try a budget flight from Orly on Easyjet to Pisa. There are morning flights from Nice to Paris Orly at 8:05 am or 10:30 am that will allow you to the 3:10 pm flight from there which arrives in Pisa at 4:40 pm. Are youth hostels in French- auberge jeunnesse? And if I was to book a dorm room in one how would I say in French - could i have a dorm room for one person from 16th march to 22 of march please. And is breakfast included/ Best answer:I haven't been to Europe but yeah breakfast may be included call them and ask. hostels are kind of known for that. I used this recently to find a hostel: http://www.hostelworld.com/index.php?affiliate=uleesgold I'm speaking of a recent trip I took to Las Vegas. these travel sections are fun to browse have fun. Skiing in France, where would you recommend?Full question:I'm planning a ski trip to The Alps for early next year, need some inspiration of where to go! Already been twice to Les Arc. I'm a good skiier. Where have you been? How was it? Good slopes? Accomodation? Food? Nightlife? Weather? Thanks! Best answer:That's an easy one: Les Trois Vallées is the best! It's Courchevel, Méribel and Val Thorens (three valleys). The slopes are great in Val Thorens (but pretty good in the other two), the nightlife is great in Courchevel and Méribel (more student like in Val Thorens), and the food is pretty good in Méribel (in Courchevel too but it's super expensive). I skied there in April a couple of years ago, it was gorgeous: perfect snow, perfect weather (skiing in short sleeves is the best way!), and the perfect vacation! Enjoy! Does anyone know if the Vanoise Express Cable car is open again?Full question:The Vanoise Express links the ski-ing areas of Les Arcs and Le Plagne. How do you say "genetically modified" in French?Full question:I cant find out how anywhere! heres the sentence I am goin to use it in. Les Légumes du Arc-en-Ciel sont (genetically modified) etre des couleur tu n'attends pas pour légumes. its saposed to mean: Vegetables of the Rainbow are genetically modified to be colours you wouldnt expect for vegetables. Thanks so much if you can help me :D Best answer:génétiquement modifiés What are some timeless movies, or movies from our generation that you think will become timeless?Full question:Addendum: from all genres. (Timeless movies provide the same effect to viewers, from generation to generation.) I personally think the following movies are timeless: Vertigo Cannibal Holocaust Irreversible Les Diaboliques 2001: A Space Odyssey The Lion King Men Behind the Sun M Salo Cache Microcosmos Citizen Kane The WIzard of Oz The Passion of Joan of Arc There are a lot more, of course. Best answer:I agree with most of your movies... There are a lot of great ones out there that will be remembered. I think some movies from OUR generation that will become timeless are: Across the Universe [great for the future Beatles' fans :] Marley & Me [for the dog-lovers...] A Walk to Remember [sort of old, but i love it...] The Notebook [same with AWR] Clueless [okay...maybe this is just me. i can never get tired of this movie.] The Dark Knight Step Up 2 [&&this one is DEFINITELY just me. :D i just love this movie] Juno Napoleon Dynamite [oh, come on. who didn't love it?] This isn't really much Timeless Movies for everyone...It's more my opinion. But these are some of the best movies made in our generation, in my opinion. :] Which Board/Bindings?Full question:I've been boarding for about five years and have already bought my own boots (Northwave, size 10). This year I'm looking at buying my own board and bindings before i go away to Les Arcs in January. I'm 5'10" and just over 15 stone (i don't like to admit it, but i know it's important for getting the right board). I've got a budget of £400-£450 and I'm an all-mountain rider- i don't go to the parks. Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers. Best answer:You don't need a wide board with size 10 boots, and and all-mountain board will be fine for you, although you could also get a free-ride board if you are more inclined towards a stiffer, faster board. I don't know what boards sell for in the UK, but considering the Pound-dollar ratio I'd bet that you're not going to run into many budget constraints. I can do metric to imperial conversions, but I'm afraid many american have no clue what stone actually means. so I look3ed it up, and it appears that it's roughly 210 lbs, correct? for that weight I'd be looking into a board that was 162-166, and probably on the longer end of that ratio. As for bindings, I'd be looking at the stiffer all mountain or free-ride ones as well. They will be a lot more responsive than the more forgiving freestyle binders. Look for a good pair of intermediate level bindings. You get a lot of the proven tech trickling down form the high end, without the latest gimmicks or experiments, and the price tag is a lot more palatable. Powered by Yahoo!
