So why can Jesus' teachings on the Mount of Olives be for all time, but not what He said through Paul?

Full question:

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. So Peter and Paul agree that all their letters and teachings that became scripture are from God throught the Holy Spirit which is Jesus. So why are Jesus' teachings for all time, but not Jesus' teachings through Paul and Peter? there are those who say they can't, and that's why I ask. :) but they are teachings from Jesus. ^_^ well, because the Catholic Church put his letters in the bible. If your letters were in the bible , I'd believe you too. :) But I see your point, and how would we ever know if Jesus really did come to Paul. :) Jesus is Paul's messiah, so of course Jesus is my messiah. :) Paul only preached what Jesus wanted him to. :) Support Kevin's clamin eh? Arn't you supposed to support my claim also to be fair?

Best answer:

Because maybe He really did not teach through Peter and Paul, which means the quotes you gave were NOT given from Jesus, which means they can be wrong. Jesus Himself NEVER said He would teach through Paul. Paul is the one who claims to be divinely inspired. In other words, Paul claims that Paul is divinely inspired. If he IS inspired, then the claim that he is inspired is correct. If he is NOT inspired, then the claim is incorrect. What if I tell you that I am divinely inspired. Would you believe me? Of course not, so why believe Paul? Just because he lived a "long time ago"? EDIT: Think about it this way. Christians teach that all humans have free will, right? Did Paul have free will? If so, he could have written whatever he wanted, even if he was "inspired" to write something else. If he had no free will, then the entire story of Adam and Eve is thrown out the window. EDIT 2: The Catholic Church, holy as it may be, is also composed of men, and is therefore also fallible, just like Paul was. I trust the Catholic Church, and I listen to them, but I don't put their words equal to God's words.

How To Feed a Flemish Giant Rabbit....?

(Average for young and adult age?) -How much Hay should he get per day? (Average for young and adult age in pounds/hand fulls?) -What type of Pellets are better? “American Pet Diner Timmy Rabbit Food” or “Oxbow Bunny Basics 15/23” -What type of Hay is better for him? “American Pet Diner Mount Grass Hay” or “High Fiber Timothy Hay” -What kinds of wood are safe for him to chew on that I can get from a hardware store etc? -Any vitamin/supplements needed for his total health? -How Much Greens per day? -What is the best but also not really expensive litter to use for him? Links with info on the care of Flemish Giants & places to buy the supplies inexpensively would be great!

Best answer:

Listen to the above advice AND contact a Flemish Giant breeder to confirm the amount of pellets. Pellets with hay only as a supplement. No extras. A good responsible breeder will be able to tell you the exact amount the need. You can do so by visiting the American Rabbit Breeders Association at http://www.arba.net

Is There Good in All Religions?

Full question:

Some persons who feel there is good in all religions consider it narrow-minded to believe that God would not accept most people no matter what their religion. But Jesus, who knew and reflected his Father’s thinking, took a different view. (John 1:18; 8:28, 29) None of us would reasonably charge the Son of God with being narrow-minded. Consider what he said in the Sermon on the Mount: “Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.”—Matthew 7:13, 14. 4 What does it take to be on that narrow road and have God’s approval? Some, in line with the modern liberal or ecumenical spirit, would answer, ‘Just do good and avoid hurting others,’ or, ‘All you need is to accept Jesus as your Lord.’ But Jesus said that much more is necessary: “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one DOING THE WILL OF MY FATHER who is in the heavens will. Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not . . . perform many powerful works in your name?’ And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness.”—Matthew 7:21-23. 5 It is true that Jesus counseled against judging the inconsequential faults of others. (Matthew 7:3-5; Romans 14:1-4) But on the vital matter of religion, he exemplified the need to adhere to the Bible, and to do the will of the Father. Jesus condemned practices and teachings that conflicted with God’s Word. Why? Because he knew that religion is used by the Devil to ensnare people. (2 Corinthians 4:4) Satan’s stock in trade is falsehood, but presented in a way that makes it appealing. (Genesis 3:4, 5; 1 Timothy 4:1-3) Even among professing Christians there are religious leaders who serve the desires of the Devil. (2 Corinthians 11:13-15) Their teachings misrepresent the loving and generous ways of God. Is it any wonder, then, that Jesus exposed religious leaders whose teachings were contrary to the Scriptures?—Matthew 15:1-20; 23:1-38. 6 Many persons have, as it were, inherited their religion. Others just go along with the majority around them. But even if this is with sincerity, it can put a person on the ‘broad road leading to destruction.’ (John 16:2; Proverbs 16:25) The apostle Paul (also named Saul) had been zealous in his religion even to the point of persecuting Christians. Yet to be acceptable to God, he had to convert to a new way of worship. (1 Timothy 1:12-16; Acts 8:1-3; 9:1, 2) Later, he was inspired to write that some very religious persons then had “a zeal for God; but not according to accurate knowledge.” (Romans 10:2) Do you have an accurate knowledge of the will of God set out in the Bible? Are you acting accordingly? 7 Do not take this lightly, perhaps feeling that if you are not quite on the right path God will understand without your having to make any changes. The Scriptures state that God’s will is for people to “come to an accurate knowledge of truth,” and then to live in harmony with it. (1 Timothy 2:3, 4; James 4:17) God foretold that in the “last days” many persons would ‘have a form of godly devotion but prove false to its power.’ He commanded: “From these turn away.”—2 Timothy 3:1-5. HOW CAN YOU KNOW? 8 Although worship that pleases God must accord with “accurate knowledge,” examination reveals that most churches teach doctrines that conflict with the Bible. (Romans 10:2) For example, they hold to the unscriptural doctrine that man has an immortal soul. (Ezekiel 18:4, 20; see page 115.) ‘Is that teaching so bad?’ some may wonder. Do not forget that Satan’s first lie was that sin would not bring death. (Genesis 3:1-4) While death is now unavoidable, the teaching that man has an immortal soul tends to further Satan’s lie. It has led millions of persons into fearful dealings with demons who pose as the souls of the dead. And the doctrine makes the Bible truth about a coming resurrection of the dead meaningless.—Acts 24:15. 9 Conduct is also involved, for many religions accept or encourage holidays and customs based on belief in immortality of the soul. Halloween, All Souls’ Day and others are holidays of that sort, blending in practices drawn from non-Christian religions. 10 The mixing of non-Christian and supposed Christian religion extends to other holidays, such as Christmas. God directed Christians to commemorate Jesus’ death, not his birth. (1 Corinthians 11:24-26) And the Bible shows that Jesus was not born in December, which is a cold rainy season in Israel. (Luke 2:8-11) You can check almost any encyclopedia and see that December 25 was chosen because it was already a Roman holiday. Sir James Frazer observes: “Taken altogether, the coincidences of [Christmas and Easter] with the heathen festivals are too close and too numerous to be accidental. . . . [Clerics] perceived that if Christianity was to conquer the world it could do so only by relaxing the too rigid principles of its Founder, by widening a little the narrow gate which leads to salvation.”—The Golden Bough. 11 After he learns the facts, what person who sincerely loves God would continue to accept beliefs and practices based on a compromise with pagan worship? To some persons these teachings or practices may seem like little things. But the Bible clearly says: “A little leaven ferments the whole lump.”—Galatians 5:9. WAR AND MORALS 12 Jesus Christ set out another aid in identifying religion that is acceptable to God when he told his disciples: “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.” (John 13:34, 35) Most churches talk about showing love, but do they really urge showing the kind of love that Jesus did? 13 We have already seen that Christians in early centuries lived in line with the prophetic description at Isaiah 2:4. They ‘beat their swords into plowshares and would not lift up sword against each other nor learn war anymore.’ (See pages 166, 167.) What position have the churches and their clergy taken? Many men know from personal experience that the churches have approved of and blessed warfare—Catholics killing Catholics, Protestants killing Protestants. This certainly was not following the pattern Jesus set. Interestingly, it was the Jewish religious leaders who, claiming that national interests were at stake, approved of killing Jesus.—John 11:47-50; 15:17-19; 18:36. 14 As a further aid in determining whether a religious group has God’s approval, consider whether it upholds his moral standards rather than simply overlooking wrongdoing. Jesus tried to help sin-laden persons, including drunkards and harlots. His disciples were to do the same. (Matthew 9:10-13; 21:31, 32; Luke 7:36-48; 15:1-32) And if a person who had already become a Christian sinned, other Christians could help him, trying to restore him to God’s favor and to spiritual strength. (Galatians 6:1; James 5:13-16) But what if a person unrepentantly practiced sin? 15 That was true of a man in Corinth. Paul wrote: “Quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man. . . . ‘Remove the wicked man from among yourselves.’”—1 Corinthians 5:11-13. God’s Witnesses follow God’s directions in this. If a gross sinner refuses to accept help and will not abandon his immoral way, such a person must be expelled or disfellowshiped from the congregation. Perhaps this will shock him to his senses. Yet, whether that happens or not, this course serves to protect the sincere members of the congregation who, though themselves imperfect, are striving to uphold God’s standards.—1 Corinthians 5:1-8; 2 John 9-11. 16 However, you may know of churchgoers who openly practice sin, perhaps even receiving special honors in their church because of their wealth or prominence. By refusing to follow God’s command to disfellowship unrepentant sinners, the churches cause others to think they might as well sin too. (Ecclesiastes 8:11; 1 Corinthians 15:33) God cannot approve of those who produce such fruitage.—Matthew 7:15-20; Revelation 18:4-8. STAYING ON THE ROAD TO LIFE 17 Once you find the “road leading off into life,” you need to keep on studying the Bible in order to stay on it. Try to read the Bible each day; form a longing for it. (1 Peter 2:2, 3; Matthew 4:4) It will equip you for “every good work.”—2 Timothy 3:16, 17. 18 Those good works include living by God’s moral standards, as well as being kind and helpful to others, especially those related to us in the faith. (James 1:27; Galatians 6:9, 10) That is how Jesus was. Besides setting a fine moral example, he healed the sick, fed the hungry and comforted the distressed. He especially taught and strengthened his disciples. Though we cannot copy his miracles, we can, as we are able, give practical aid to others, which may move some to glorify God.—1 Peter 2:12. 19 But Jesus’ good works involved more. He knew that the best work done for others was helping them to know what worship is acceptable to God and instructing them about God’s Kingdom purposes. This could help them to attain the goal of everlasting life in happiness.—Luke 4:18-21. 20 Christians today should likewise strive to be witnesses for God. They can witness by their fine conduct, which includes helping others and keeping themselves “without spot from the world.” (Isaiah 43:10-12; James 1:27; Titus 2:14) Also, they can take the “good news” right to the homes of persons, persevering in this work until God says that it is done. (Luke 10:1-9) Do you not want to help your neighbors, including your family, to learn about worship that God accepts? Then you, too, should share in the public expression of your faith; doing so can help others to find the road to life.—Romans 10:10-15.

Off the top of my head, just answering the Q.... I'd say no, not necessarily. I'll read the details in the a.m. Good Morning Keith, Well put, I always enjoy reading the good news of God's Kingdom & the way to stay on this road...I need. I wasn't brought up in the truth, so it's a New World for me.... being a Christian. As I stated last night... No, not necessarily. they may have good intentions or even some truths; yet they are not the road to everlasting life. The road to serving Jehovah the way HE says is acceptable. Is the road He desires all of mankind to be on, & yet they will be blinded, mislead, or even just wanting their own will to be found acceptable. which is the raod leading off into destruction.

When will suffering end?

Full question:

During the 1,000 years, Jesus will rule from heaven over the earth and restore it to a paradise. Also, he will cancel the sins of those who love God. Jesus will thus eliminate sickness, aging, and death.—Read Isaiah 11:9; 25:8; 33:24; 35:1. (Isaiah 11:9) They will not do any harm or cause any ruin in all my holy mountain; because the earth will certainly be filled with the knowledge of Jehovah as the waters are covering the very sea. (Isaiah 25:8) He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces. And the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for Jehovah himself has spoken [it]. (Isaiah 33:24) And no resident will say: “I am sick.” The people that are dwelling in [the land] will be those pardoned for their error. (Isaiah 35:1) The wilderness and the waterless region will exult, and the desert plain will be joyful and blossom as the saffron. When will God destroy evil on earth? Jesus gave a “sign” to indicate when the end is near. Present world conditions threaten man’s survival and show that we now live in “the conclusion of the system of things.”—Read Matthew 24:3, 7-14, 21, 22; 2 Timothy 3:1-5. (Matthew 24:3) While he was sitting upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: “Tell us, When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?” (Matthew 24:7-14) “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. 8 All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress. 9 “Then people will deliver YOU up to tribulation and will kill YOU, and YOU will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name. 10 Then, also, many will be stumbled and will betray one another and will hate one another. 11 And many false prophets will arise and mislead many; 12 and because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off. 13 But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. 14 And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come. (Matthew 24:21-22) for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again. 22 In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short. (2 Timothy 3:1-5) But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.

Best answer:

In God's time...Revelation 21:4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Robert F. Kennedy's son, Douglas, is facing charges related to an incident in which he clashed with two nurses who tried to stop him taking his newborn son for a walk outside a hospital maternity ward. Kennedy, 44, was charged with misdemeanor harassment and endangering the welfare of a child over the Jan. 7 argument, during which he allegedly grabbed one nurse by the wrist and kicked another in the pelvis, NBC New York revealed late Friday. He was arraigned on the charges Thursday night. Kennedy was attempting to take his son, his fourth child, for a walk "to get fresh air" outside Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, N.Y., in the company of doctor and longtime family friend Timothy Haydock when nurse Anna Margaret Lane tried to stop him entering an elevator and then a stairwell. Kennedy allegedly grabbed Lane by the wrist in an attempt to open a door to the stairwell, before allegedly kicking Cari Maleman Luciano as the nurse tried to grab the baby's head. A statement from Kennedy and his wife, Molly, called the allegations "absurd." "The nurse had no right to attempt to grab our child out of his father's arms," the statement said, adding that Kennedy "was shocked and appalled when she did so." For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)" Matthew 24:3-15 End of the World Bible Prophecy How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate. O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field. Is James Hansen soon to be Fired?

Full question:

Should he have kept his rear-end in the lab and out of 'YouTube'?? Feb 23, 2009 Calls Mount for Obama to Fire NASA Climate Chief By James M. Taylor Calls are mounting for President Barack Obama to fire James Hansen, the controversial figure in charge of climate studies at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Hansen has a record of allegedly doctoring temperature data to hype his argument that global warming is a crisis. The new calls for his resignation or termination come following his appearance in a video calling for civil disobedience at a protest at a power plant in Washington, DC. “It is plainly improper for someone on the U.S. government payroll to advocate civil disobedience on behalf of a non-government advocacy group,” said Dan Miller, executive vice president of The Heartland Institute and former chairman of the Illinois Commerce Commission. “As long as a public official is on the public payroll, his first loyalty is to his constituency, not to some outside pressure group calling on people to break the law,” Miller said. A video featuring Hansen is prominently displayed on the Web site of a group called Capitol Climate Action. In it, Hansen says “please join us” at a protest at a power plant in Washington, DC. The facility burns coal to generate electricity. The Web site calls on people to “surround the plant, disrupting access, and refusing to leave when asked.” Incredibly, he has even called for Nuremberg-style trials for scientists who disagree with him about the causes and possible consequences of climate change. “If I did what Jim has done while I was a NASA employee, I would have been drawn and quartered and then fired,” said Dr. Roy Spencer, principal research scientist for the University of Alabama… “I have been following Jim Hansen’s travails over many years, said Hans Labohm, a climate policy expert based in The Netherlands. “My impression is that he has been acting like a climate activist rather than a climate scientist. We in Europe tend to regard NASA as a serious scientific organization. I have always wondered how someone like Jim Hansen could be part of it. As an expert reviewer of the IPCCs Fourth Assessment Report, I believe I express the concerns of many people.” “Hansen’s questionable and often outrageous use of rhetoric, ploys, and tactics should call his continued employment by the taxpayer into question,” said Chris Horner, author of Red Hot Lies. “It is surprising that he has been allowed to remain in such a sensitive public post,” said Terry Dunleavy, executive vice-chairman of the International Climate Science Coalition. Dunleavy, writing from New Zealand, goes on to say, “I’m not sure which is worse: Hansen’s disrespect for science or his flouting of American public service values.” “Hansen is primarily responsible for making climate and climate change a political rather than a scientific issue, and for that alone he should be fired, especially since his position as a scientist and a bureaucrat must be apolitical,” said Dr. Timothy Ball, former climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada. “He has made it so that if you agree with AGW [anthropogenic global warming] you are politically left and if you disagree you are politically right and in my opinion there is no greater indictment of the politicizing of climate science,” Ball added. icecap.us

Best answer:

I find it troubling that a "scientist" and government employee is encouraging civil disorder, it is probably in breach of NASA's code of conduct and other regulations for government workers. Having someone so obviously politically motivated in charge of the global climate record scares me when someone in such a position should be completely impartial. The fact that he has also predicted continuous warming also concerns me, as even subconciously he may bias the climate record to fit the projections he conjured up, which he obviously whole heartedly believes in. NASA should have put him out to pasture a while ago, the longer he carries on like this, the more credibility NASA lose as a respected institude of science. Than he has the nerve to claim NASA muzzled him! If only they had...

Galatians 4:16.... Am I therefore become your ENEMY, because I tell you theTRUTH? YES, YAH...[PSALM 68:4]....CARES WHAT WE CALL HIM. NO-ONE COMES TO HIM BY ANY OTHER NAME, HALLELU-YAH! LET IT BE WRITTEN; LET IT BE DONE! Galatians 4:21-31: 21Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? 22For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. 23But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. 24Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. 25For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. BUT WHAT DID YAHSHUA SAY? JOHN 4: [20] - [21] - [23] - [24]. 26But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. 27For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband. 28Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. 29But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. 30Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. 31So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free. Indeed, so fearful was the spectacle that Moses said, 'I am terrified and trembling.' No, you have drawn near to Mount Zion and the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to myriads of angels in festal gathering, to the assembly of the first born enrolled in the spirits of just men made perfect to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood which speaks more eloquently than that of Abel. Where do the teachings of Jesus fit into the right-wing conservative view on how to run a good country?

Full question:

I am not a liberal or conservative, politically speaking (American politics). I am simply asking this question to hopefully make some people think... I do not believe we Christians should even be involved w/ politics, at all, in any kingdom on Earth, beyond praying for our leaders (1 Timothy), and voting (if it is an option). Beyond that, we should simply submit (Romans 13:1-7) to the authority over us, and let God work out His plan in this fallen world. With that said... aren't we supposed to give to all who ask? Shouldn't we provide a home and medical help for those in need (the good Samaritan, and a long list of others Jesus and the apostles helped). Aren't we supposed to turn the other cheek, go further than what is commanded to us, and give more than was is demanded of us (Matthew 5-7; sermon on the mount)? How does that fit into the conservative stance on health care, welfare, and the like? Aren't we supposed to welcome the sojourner (Leviticus 25:35) among us? How does that fit into conservatives stance on immigration? Why are the political views of so many conservatives claiming to be Christian, so anti-Christ? And liberals who name the name of Christ, you aren't off the hook... this one just isn't about you. :) So, tell me... how does ruling a worldly kingdom in this way fit into the Kingdom of God, and how Jesus told us to live? Or, perhaps the conclusion is that you can't mix the too, and perhaps we should be spending less time with wordly politics, and more time serving ONLY the kingdom of God, and not be double minded about the two?

Best answer:

You bring up a valid point. However since America is a land of the people by the people then we ideally should live as Jesus taught and try to have our country shaped that way as well. We are fortunate not to have to succumb to a tyrant (yet). But if we were then Jesus also told us ... Mark 12:17 And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him. But the bible also says For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat." 2 Thessalonians 3:10 Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. Proverbs 10:4 How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest -- and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man. Proverbs 6:9-11 There is a difference between not being ABLE to work and choosing to be lazy and NOT working. God gave us free choice and that includes whether we want to be charitable. We should be but no one should force us.

Christianity paradox?

Full question:

Jesus Christ is the only religious founder in the world that doesn't have a locatable grave. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, Timothy, Peter, Other John, and the rest of the new testament writers claim that he rose from the grave and after 40 days rose up from mount olives into heaven. 9/12 were killed for teaching this belief... I can't see liers giving their lives for a life because lies are constructed to benefit the liers and how does death benefit and not a single deciple slipped up their lies. Correction "I can't see liers giving their lives for a life" should be "I can't see liars giving their lives for a lie"

Best answer:

You are correct.....does anyone with any common sense really believe that all of those men would die for a lie ?

Why do biblical accounts for the ascension vary greatly?

Full question:

The first account of the Ascension found in the Christian Bible is in the Gospel of Mark (16:14-19)—but see article on Mark 16. The description is brief: Jesus and the remaining eleven apostles are seated at a table, presumably in a room in or near Jerusalem. Jesus commands his followers to spread the Gospel (see also Great Commission) and tells them that those who believe will be known by their invulnerability to poison, ability to heal the sick, exorcise demons, speak in "new tongues," and the like. After delivering these final words, Jesus is received into heaven to sit at the right hand of God. No description of the Ascension itself is given; Mark simply states that it happened. The Gospel of Luke is even more brief in its description (24:50-51). Jesus led the eleven to Bethany, not far from Jerusalem. While in the act of blessing them, Jesus was carried up to heaven. In Mark, the Ascension appears to take place immediately after the Resurrection of Jesus. However, verse 19 of Mark 16 could legitimately be interpreted in light of the 40-day delay spoken of in Acts (see below). It simply states that "after the Lord had spoken to them, he was received up into heaven...." This might easily allow for a delay between the events of this verse and those preceding it; thus it does not necessarily contradict Luke's account in Chapter one of the Acts of the Apostles. Not only is the Ascension related in the passages of Scripture cited above, but it is also elsewhere predicted and spoken of as an established fact. Thus, in John 6:62, Christ asks the Jews: "What if then you shall see the son of Man ascend up where He was before?" and 20:17, He says to Mary Magdalen: "Do not touch (translated "approach" in the Aramaic) Me, for I am not yet ascended to My Father, but go to My brethren, and say to them: I ascend to My Father and to your Father, to My God and to your God." Again, in Acts 2:30-33, Ephesians 4:8-10, and in I Timothy 3:16, the Ascension of Christ is spoken of as an accepted fact. Christians do not interpret this as a "state of full consciousness," but rather a literal rising from the earth into the sky. The third account of the Ascension is in the Acts of the Apostles 1:9-12). For forty days after the Resurrection, Jesus continued to teach his followers. Jesus and the eleven were gathered near Mount Olivet, to the northeast of Bethany. Jesus tells his apostles that they will receive the power of the Holy Spirit, the "Comforter," see also Paraclete, and that they will spread his message the world over, i.e. the Great Commission. Jesus is taken up and received by a cloud. Two men clothed in white (i.e., angels) appear and tell the apostles that Jesus will return in the same manner as he was taken. Even though these three accounts might appear contradictory, the reader should keep in mind that the original Gospel of Luke and Acts (Luke-Acts) were both written by the same author and are thus very unlikely to contain such glaring discrepancies.[2] In fact, the Gospel of Luke never says that Jesus was taken up immediately after his Resurrection but simply states that the ascension happened "when he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany", which could very well be forty days after his Resurrection. As observed above, Mark's rendering leaves room for this same interpretation, depending upon how one reads the words "after the Lord had spoken to them...." (Mark 16:19). Many scholars assert that Mark either originally ended at 16:8 or had a different ending (see the article on Mark 16); this, however, is not universally agreed. Mark's Ascension account could therefore be read in the light of later authorship, probably with reference to the existing traditions surrounding the event. The Gospel of Matthew ends at a mountain in Galilee, with Jesus commanding the Disciples to spread the Gospel to the ends of the world, baptizing in the name of the Trinity (the "Great Commission"). No mention is made of the Ascension. Even within the pious Christian tradition, the language used by the Evangelists to describe the Ascension must be interpreted according to usage. To say that he was taken up or that he ascended, does not necessarily imply that they locate heaven directly above the earth; no more than the words "sitteth on the right hand of God" mean that this is his actual physical posture, but rather denotes his equality with the Father, according to Trinitarianism. In disappearing from their view "He was raised up and a cloud received Him out of their sight" (Acts 1:9), and entering into glory he dwells with the Father in the honour and power denoted by the scripture phrase.

British people need to see the Great Plains of America..... and wander through Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah..... And take trains from like Missoula, Montana (hippie spot) to Billings, Montana to Hayden Lake, Idaho (peace park formerly Neo-Nazi headquarters with 99.7% white people on a lake) , to Omaha, Nebraska to Shoeshone Falls in South Idaho where potatoes are really good ....... to Mount Rushmore in South Dakota to Sioux Indian Reservations Then explore Utah and see old shacks on winding endless roads and attend a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and pick up a Book of Mormon...... In North Dakota visit the Geographic Centre of the North American Continent in Rugby and then drive to Fargo where you may remember the movie Fargo..... Then in Nebraska meet the descendents of Germans and Swedes who pioneered and taste some of this really good native Corn and chill with the pretty girls in Omaha, Nebraska where they make all the barbecue burgers and stuff.... And then visit Dick Cheney's home in Wyoming and camp under the stars in Yellow Stone National Park and Grand Tetons and then dip in hot springs, and watch Old Faithful - Volcanic eruption every 72 minutes....pretty cool stuff.... and see the Big Horn Mountains...... Then visit Kansas and see Wichita because it had a famous serial killer and also because they are mentioned in a song by The White Stripes called "Seven Nation Army" which also mentions the Queens of England in the line "everybody knows about it.... from the Queen of England to the Hounds of Hell" Then visit Oklahoma and see they city that was struck by the nutcase Timothy McVeigh.... and see where the wind comes sweeping down the plain when the wind comes right behind the rain and the land they belong to is grand.... Are All Parts of the Bible Still Relevant?

Full question:

I think it is because I was once read an illustration that said... "Suppose you picked an apple from an apple tree. Once you have the apple, is the tree that produced it irrelevant? Not if you want more fruit! In some ways the Bible is like that apple tree. Certain parts of the Bible, such as the Psalms or Sermon on the Mount, might seem to be readily accessible and especially "tasty". While we may treasure those parts-as we might our favorite fruit-should we disregard the rest?" The Bible itself says All Scripture is Inspired of God and Beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness which is found at 2 Timothy 3:15,16. So what do you think... is it still relevant?

Best answer:

From the Hebrew Scriptures we get understand with the fulfillment of prophecy in the Christian Greek Scriptures. There are thousands of different faiths and religions that have sprung up because of their interpretation of the Christian Greek Scriptures, there would only be one faith(Ephesians 4:5,6) if the Bible in whole was used for understanding its meaning. It would be like reading an answer without knowing the question. When you know the question you understand the answer, one big misconception is the trinity, the Hebrew scriptures clearly show who the Messiah would be and that the Messiah was not God but God's seed. The Hebrew scriptures identifies the seed and the seed line and how this would bring about the divine sovereignty of the true God Jehovah and that it would be Jehovah's Son that would bring about this sovereignty and crush the serpent head. Yes all scriptures ARE relevant!

Long question.. sry....REALLY NEED HELP!?

Full question:

I have had my 6 yr old TB for almost 6 months now, Im getting very frustrated with him and out of options, If something is hurting him I want to fix it but if it is just his personality then Im fine with that, that is why I need your help!! He's a generly great horse! A little history: Retired from the track when he was 4, then he was a barrel racer for a short time. Then I got him and he was great for the first month, introduced him to the english pleasure saddle, and doing great! Previous owner said he always went in a snaffle so I kept him in my loose ring snaffle. I started training him to jump and to do dressage. He started to get bad and tossing his head. Hes tarted to get upset and do little rears and jumps when I try to make him do accurate 20 meter circles and other general stuff. Sometimes he will try to break into a canter. When ever I mount him he will immediately start tossing his head into his chest and out away from his chest. We have changed his saddle twice, switched him from a loose ring to a JP oval mouth, chiro was out, nothing wrong with his back, teeth were done last year, feet were recently done about 4 weeks ago. Im out of options! What do you think?? He's not on any hot feeds either, just a timothy alfalfa, brom mix type grass. PLEASE HELP!!!!!! I do take regular lessons on him, in just seems that me and him are in a constant fight with eachother. I forgot to mention that when ever I put my leg on him, he tosses his head.

Best answer:

Hi there Would agree with a lot of whats been said, once you have ensured his teeth are ok and saddle fits well, would start again with him, and train him like he knows nothing. From the sounds of it, he might have been a bit confused/testing his boundaries and now is getting in the habit. I know you said he has been a b.racer for a bit, but you can basically treat him like a horse off the track, and train him the same way you would a TB straight off the track. Go back to the beginning with him, give him lots of turn out time and when you work with him do heaps of ground work, walk him in a halter and teach him voice commands and lunge him in a bridle and get him going to the voice commands. This will help when you ride, can keep your leg aids very soft and use seat and voice commands to change gaits. When mounted do a lot of walk/trot/halt transitions and bending but try to do loose, large circles and work your way down (or up depending how u want to look at it :P) to the 20m circles. I got my TB off the track and he was sooo stiff, he wasn't used to being able to bend after all that running in a straight line with his head in the air! Remeber too, race horses are not used to lower leg aids, so legs squeezing his belly is quite strange and he may not know what its means. This is where voice commands are really helpful, gentle çalf squeeze and 'terr-rot' and if he has learnt what 'terr-rot' means he will learn that, gentle calf squeeze means that too. Keep your lessons short as well, 20-30 minutes, keep it simple, and take it slow, he will get there in the end. Maybe take him out for rides to keep things interesting, and do some cross rails or trot poles. Can't speak for all of them obviously, but both the young ex race TB''s I have had, have gone through a similar thing. Have been going really well for a while but then have started to act up. This is when I back off with their training because its ussually a sign thats its become just too much new stuff for them to deal with, they are young and trying to learn but its all too different, so they tell you in the only way they can. Slow its down and go back to lessons that are easy for them then start the new stuff again and they tend to be fine :) oh, and put him in an eggbut snaffle maybe? even nicer on the mouth than the loose ring. And make sure its fits him ok? (i am sure you have done this but just in case :) good luck :)

Taller People Earn More Money/??? this is BULLS*IT!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Taller People Earn More Money Buzz Up Send Email IM Share Delicious Digg Facebook Fark Newsvine Reddit StumbleUpon Technorati Yahoo! Bookmarks Print Robert Roy Britt Editorial Director LiveScience.com robert Roy Britt editorial Director livescience.com – Sat Jul 11, 10:41 am ET There's a growing body of research that finds taller people make more money. The latest study, in Australia, found that being 6-foot tall brings raises annual income nearly $1,000 compared to men two inches shorter. "Taller people are perceived to be more intelligent and powerful," according to the study, published recently in the Economic Record. "Our estimates suggest that if the average man of about 178 centimeters [5 feet 10 inches] gains an additional five centimeters [2 inches] in height, he would be able to earn an extra $950 per year - which is approximately equal to the wage gain from one extra year of labor market experience," said study co-author Andrew Leigh, an economist at the Australian National University. Other studies in the United States and Britain put the extra earnings at nearly that much per inch. "The truth is, tall people do make more money. They make $789 more per inch per year," says Arianne Cohen, author of "The Tall Book" (Bloomsbury USA, June, 2009). There's nothing else physically measurable about tall people that explains the salary boost, however, Cohen explained recently on American Public Media's radio program Marketplace. "They're not nicer. They're not prettier. They're not anything else. But they've sort of gotten a halo in society at this point." Serious money over time As the inches mount, the salary continues to, too. Cohen's number is based in part on a 2003 review of four large U.S. and UK studies led by Timothy Judge, a management professor at the University of Florida. Judge and his colleague concluded that someone who is 7 inches taller - for example, 6 feet versus 5 feet 5 inches - would be expected to earn $5,525 more per year. Height was found to be more important than gender in determining income (though that claim is debatable, depending on how you analyze the gender salary gap) and its significance doesn't decline with age. "If you take this over the course of a 30-year career and compound it, we're talking about literally hundreds of thousands of dollars of earnings advantage that a tall person enjoys," Judge said then. Being tall may boost self-confidence, helping to make a person more successful and also prompting people to ascribe more status and respect to the tall person, Judge said. Of course all such studies generate averages. A shorter person can certainly beat the odds, and not every tall person is raking it in. Cohen, who is 6 foot 3 inches tall, says the pay advantage is conferred partly because taller people tend to exude leadership. "Tall people tend to act like a leader from a very young age because other children relate to them like a slightly older peer," she said on the radio program. "In the workplace, when you're automatically acting as a leader, that's really important when it comes time for promotion." To some extent, then, the advantage of height may date back to youth. A 2003 study of 2,000 U.S. men found that their height at age 16 had a big effect on their salary as an adult, regardless of how tall they ended up being. "We found that two adults of the same age and height, who were different heights at age 16, were treated differently in the labor market. The taller teen earned more," said study team member Nicola Persico of the University of Pennsylvania. Vertically challenged All is not rosy on high, however. In her book, Cohen notes that being tall can cost more, from additional food requirements to costlier clothes and the desire for outsized things like high-ceilinged homes. (Interestingly, there's a growing debate about whether obese people should pay for their excess footprint on society and the environment, yet nobody is calling for taxing the tall.) The average height for American men is about 5 feet 9 inches nearly 5 feet 4 inches for women. In more than a century, no U.S. president has been below average height (the last one was William McKinley, at 5 feet 7 inches, and he was ridiculed in the press as a "little boy," Judge said). Judge figures the advantages of height today are rooted in our evolutionary decision-making regarding who was most powerful. "When humans evolved as a species and still lived in the jungles or on the plain, they ascribed leader-like qualities to tall people because they thought they would be better able to protect them," Judge said. "Although that was thousands of years ago, evolutionary psychologists would argue that some of those old patterns still operate in our perceptions today." Christians what do you think about this?

Full question:

In his book Things It Took Me 50 Years to Learn, Dave Berry once noted: "When trouble arises and things look bad, there is always one individual who perceives a solution and is willing to take command. Very often, that person is crazy." [1] History is replete with examples of false and dangerous leaders who arose during difficult times. America is currently in such a juncture of history. The economy is in a tailspin. Terrorists are on the march. Illegal immigrants are crossing the border by the millions. Government corruption is rampant. Lawlessness fills the streets. The combination of these circumstances makes the nation ripe for a deceptive leader. The Bible warns about the rise of false leaders during challenging times, giving telltale signs of their identity. Jeremiah the prophet did battle against the false leaders of his day, claiming that they proclaimed peace when there was no peace. Jeremiah said, "They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. 'Peace, peace,' they say, when there is no peace." (Jeremiah 6:14) False leaders are characterized by not dealing with the real issues. They talk about the need for unity and hope, but fail to speak about what robs people of both – sin – rebelling against God's way. As in Jeremiah's day, they talk about prosperity, self-fulfillment, pluralism and diversity. They preach to "itching ears," as the apostle Paul said (II Timothy 4:3), but they will not talk about the will of God as something absolute. Many years ago, there was a student strike on the campus of the University of California-Berkeley that prompted Campus Crusade for Christ to send hundreds of its staff to the Berkeley area. The protesters were chanting against the Vietnam War, "Hell, no, we want go...Hell, no, we won't go..." and making the two-fingered peace sign. In contrast, the Campus Crusade workers held up their index finger only and chanted, "One way, one way, one way, one way...," meaning there is only one way to peace – God's way. [2] Jesus expounded on this principle when in the Sermon on the Mount he said: "Enter by the narrow gate, for the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life...." (Matthew 7:13, 14) Interestingly, these words of Christ cut deeply across much of the easy-going syncretism of many contemporary theological and political leaders. Currently, much of society prefers many choices to the struggles of life rather than one, or better still, a fusing of the many choices into some sort of conglomerate. But Christ affords no such comfortable solution when dealing with truth, insisting that ultimately there is only one choice – the way of life or the way of destruction. In his autobiography, C.S. Lewis describes a period in his life when be began to "broaden his mind." "I was soon altering 'I believe' to 'one does feel.' And oh, the relief of it!...From the tyrannous noon of revelation I passed into the cool evening twilight of Higher Thought, where there was nothing to be obeyed, and nothing to be believed except what was either comforting or exciting." [3] False leaders are ingenious in capitalizing on this human tendency and garnering followers in great numbers. Such a warning, therefore, should cause the nation serious pause at the remarks of Barack Obama, who declared in his "Call to Renewal" speech: "Democracy demands that the religiously motivated translate their concerns into universal, rather than religion-specific, values. It requires that their proposals be subject to argument, and amenable to reason. I may be opposed to abortion for religious reasons, but if I seek to pass a law banning the practice, I cannot simply point to the teachings of my church or evoke God's will. I have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all." [4] These words are unequivocally representative of the very kind of false leadership Christ warned about. They deny any room for the narrowness of divine revelation or an unqualified understanding of the will of God for culture and public policy. National righteousness is only understood in the broader sense of what society collectively determines for itself. This is not, as some would argue, the best of every religion's influence on American society, but instead simply a form of national idolatry. This is not even democracy as the nation's founders envisioned it, but instead just a form of mob ethics. It would sacrifice the absolute, God-given rights of mankind for the more spurious and shifting values of the state. It is certainly not the way of hope, but the way of hopelessness. It is not change for the better, but the same old road, though perhaps even paved with good intentions, which always ends in perdition. America's great leadership of the past sought another, more Noki N: I am not saying anything. I asked what you think about it. Personally, though, I agree with it.

Best answer:

this is very thorough and thought provoking there are a lot of correlations between what is going on now in the world and the fulfilling of the scriptures the problem with the world leaders is that they have taken God out of their way of thinking to appeal to the majority if they can say enough what they people want to hear then they figure that there chances are good getting into office. If worldly leaders reverted back to the bible which has so many answers they would know what to do everything in essence goes back to the bible and the doctrines just to touch on the area of abortion if they simply looked they would see how he (God) feels about abortion and that would be the end of the argument and debate but man looks to make a name for himself the fame and glory.

Sudden guinea pig deaths - reason?

Full question:

My sister and I bought two female guinea pigs, Sassy and Skittles, around the same age about six months ago. The two got along fine and were on a vitamin C enriched diet of timothy hay, carrots, oranges, lettuce, etc. and we took very good care of them. Their cage was cleaned out regularly and fresh water was given daily, and we also took them out once a day to let them run around and receive attention. About a month after we bought them, we found Skittles dead in the cage, which was surprising as she acted completely normal the night before. We then bought another female guinea pig, Snickers. We introduced the two pigs and they got along great. They stayed in good health for five months. Again, very suddenly we found Snickers dead one night after she had acted completely normal a few hours earlier. Sassy still seems to be doing fine. My question is this - what could have happened to our two guinea pigs? I don't think Sassy has been fighting them or acting violent in any way because there were no marks or cuts at all on either of the two deceased pigs. I don't think it was any sort of disease, virus, or diet problem because Sassy is still in good health. The only thing that I can come up with is that they all seemed to be in heat around the time that they died, as they were chasing each other around the cage and attempting to mount (which I read was normal in females). Is it possible that Sassy accidentally smothered the other two pigs during heat? Is that a common occurrence? Should we have separated the two? I've never read anything that suggested that other precautionary methods should be taken. Again, I'd appreciate any help or ideas on the topic. My 10 year old sister is absolutely heartbroken and worries that it could happen again :( Thanks! I know they weren't hot and didn't die of a heat stroke because we keep our house a chilly 66-68 degrees, so they should definitely have been fine. Their cage is spacious and they're not in any way crowded together. My point is I don't get why one pig has outlived the other two, which makes me think she could have smothered them during heat without thinking.

Best answer:

When new to guinea pigs it is quite easy for things like this to happen, I know when I first started to care for guinea pigs I truly missed a lot of very important signs. Guinea pigs are prey animals and will hides the fact they are ill until it goes into the acute stage, and at that point they only have a couple of days with out vet intervention. After having guinea pigs for 32 years I can see little signs of illness and get them the medical help they need in a timely manner, however, I truly know I have allowed a couple die simply because i did not know any better, they were running and popcorning so they had to be just fine, often they are not!! The most common thing to cause the death of a guinea pig is upper respiratory infections, and the early signs to a new comer area not always that easy to see. A little sleepy in the eyes just does not seam to be a big deal, but sadly it is.

Yes and no. If he mates this early with his sister the babies could be deformed or inbred. Plus I would only consider u let them mate when u think they r ready, ur ready, and when ur ready to take care of some babies.
