Full question:

And could I ski them? I can do the double black diamonds at nakiska okay... thanks!

Best answer:

Black diamonds are black diamonds period

What beginner skiing things should I know?

Full question:

Long story short: Going to Red Mountain B.C. for new years, Haven't gone skiing in five years, might only be able to go to COP and/or Nakiska once between now and then. :S Oh I forgot to add: is it a good plan to buy another pair of boots? I outgrew my last pair. If I plan to get into skiing (which I do) should I just go ahead and buy skiis (and used poles) too? *can't spell "skis" <___<

Best answer:

Don't have a gap between your hat/helmet and your goggles. Don't tuck like a racer. You look like a gaper both ways.

which place is better to ski in colorado?

Full question:

help.... i cant decide where to go skiing and its driving me crazy. which place has the best mountains, the biggest mountains, the most stuff to do, has the best views and gets the most snow around the month of february? i know its a little too soon to be wondering which is better but i like to know as soon as possible. i get things organized quick. the last place i went skiing was at nakiska in the canadian rocky mountains and i guess i have high standards for the colorado mountains. the mountains in nakiska were huge and surrounded by other huge mountains. the places i heard that were decent are steamboat, breckenridge, vail, winter park, snow mass, copper mountain, cooper, and aspen mountain. location really isnt a problem and this is my only ski trip for the year so i want to make sure i go to the best of the best. this is my first time in colorado, i was really just going to stay with my aunt but once i heard about how great the skiing was, it became my ski trip. like i said, location isnt a problem. ive driven 4 hours before to go ski, so as long as it is in that mile range, im good. and i also want to go hiking and do some tours and stuff. outdoor things. any suggestion of where to go and what to do? and im not some professional skier either. im a good skier, just not as good to be a professional. ive seen some of the mountains pictures and it looks like the skiers are skiing straight down.

Best answer:

if you want ski at go broke at the same time then ski were there saying, vail is a hole, it lives off it's name. it's full of rich people that go there... not to ski but to tell people they were in "Vail". look up the Epic ski pass, the Colorado ski pass and the Summit ski pass. With each one you get lots of different resorts. they work out to be about the same price as skiing vail for 5 days, yet you get to for the whole year. (or the month of Feb!) also with the ski passes you earn "peak points" that you can put towards other activities that you want to do, dog sledging, snowmobiling etc. have fun!

best skiing in colorado?

Full question:

im taking a trip up to colorado to stay with my aunt and so far i am completely clueless! i love to ski and i love to be by huge mountains, the last time i went skiing was at nakiska in the canadian rockies so ive kinda built up high expectations which is a problem. the places ive heard about that have good skiing around february are breckenridge, vail, winter park/ mary jane, and steamboat? any recommendations? i just want to go to an overall fun place and that has great skiing and lots of snow, im hoping thats not too much to ask. price really isnt a problem and im staying with my aunt so if any of these places require you to rent a room in order to ski there, than please let me know. im doing this so far ahead time because i dont want to have to worry about finding all the info out a month before its time to go. and yes i know, i keep asking the same questions on here but i cant ever seem to make up my mind and im not getting enough answers from people to make a valid decision. so can someone please give me a great recommendation for where to ski. these places really catch my eye and i cant choose my favorite. im staying in denver and driving a distance of 2 hours to go skiing is fine by me. im an average skier i guess, im not too good, but im not too bad either. and the as long as there are great views and big mountains, im good. loveland doesnt really catch my eye and its not big enough.. haha i like vail and breckenridge a lot.

Best answer:

Nick, Where are you staying and what level skier are you? Assuming you are staying in Denver, some of the resorts you mentioned are pretty far away. Winter Park, Loveland and the Summit County resorts are reasonably close to Denver. If you go on the weekend, the drive there and back from Denver sucks. If you want a challenge, look at A-Basin. If location isn't an issue my 3 favorite CO resorts are Telluride, Steamboat and Snowmass. Feb is a great time of year to go, crowds are down and the snow is great.

Full question:

Where should I go for snowboarding? Nakiska? Fortress? Lake Louise?

Best answer:

I will suggest you Olympus Mons which is 27 kms height and located on Planet Mars

Where should I go skiiing tomorrow (January 19)? Nakiska? Lake Louise? Sunshine?

Full question:

Best answer:

Take your pick - they all have pretty good snow - just know that if you are driving back to Calgary in the evening there is supposed to be quite a nasty snow in the afternoon and the roads will be not so nice by mid-day. Have a great time!!
