Questions and AnswersHere are common questions and answers relating to Pagosa Springs... Snow Skiing QuestionsThe following questions were posted in Yahoo's 'Snow Skiing' category: terrain park near pagosa springs colorado?Full question:going there for spring break and i don't want to go to wolf creek because i ski park and hate powder, what other resorts are around with good terrain parks Best answer:hmmm. Maybe an hour away going west to Durango and then a little north is Purgatory at Durango Mtn Resort. Mid-sized resort and has some features but far from a Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mtn or Vail (these are close to 5hrs away). Telluride is about 2.5hrs away. Crested Butte and Monarch is maybe 3 or 3.5 hrs away. Don't like powder? Wow. You should actually go someplace with a lower elevation. Like anywhere in New Mexico or Arizona. Anyone been to Wolf Creek?Full question:What is the skiing like and are there any shouldn't miss places in Pagosa Springs Best answer:It's pretty easy skiing if you're an expert. The area isn't very steep at all, what they call a black is a blue at most ski areas in Colorado. Good tree skiing but you basically have to pole your way back out of the "expert" terrain there but if you're just a regular, intermediate or beginner skier, it's a GREAT area to improve your skills. The snow is always good and the people are friendly. Questions from Other CategoriesThe following questions were posted in various Yahoo's categories other than 'Snow Skiing' - hopefully they are relevant: Where can the public swim in hot springs near the city of Pagosa Springs, Colorado?Full question:We have a vacation planned and want to swim/relax in a hot spring. Are there any (near the city of Pagosa Springs) that we can go to without having to stay at one of the resorts that have access to them? Best answer:You can swim and enjoy the hot springs at The Springs Resort without staying at the resort. There is a fee, of course, but you don't need to have a room there to get access to the hot springs, pool, and locker rooms. Any suggestions for vacationing in Pagosa Springs, Colorado?Full question:I'm going on a trip there this winter! Does it usually snow around the end of December? What things should I do while I'm there? Just anything you can tell me would be great!!! Best answer:Pagosa Springs gets TONS OF SNOW! There is a very good chance you will see a lot of snow at the end of December. I used to ski every year at Wolf Creek. The resort is about 45 minutes from town and is small but boasts "the most snow in Colorado". Snowmobiling is also a really fun thing to do. May seem intimidating at first but it's pretty easy and the guided tours are great. Ice fishing sucks. Snowshoeing is fun but exhausting. The town itself is cute, with some good restaurants and shops. You will be an hour East of Durango. More to do there in the way of shops and restaurants but I don't think Purgatory's skiing is very good especially compared to Wolf Creek. Best answer:November 4, 2005 Have you ever Been to Pagosa Springs, colorado (Hot Springs?)?Full question:How was it? Best answer:no there are a lot of hot springs around pagosa springs co why?Full question:
Best answer:Rain water percolated down through the upper layers of the Earth's crust until it hits bedrock. Normally, it collects there and gradually move downhill into the nearest aquifer. If the bedrock is being heated by underlying areas of magma, the pressure builds up and the water finds its way to the surface, where it is released as hot springs, hot mineral pools or geysers. Yellowstone Park is the largest of these areas in the United States. However, there are literally hundreds of areas that have hot springs. Anyone lives in Pagosa springs, CO?Full question:

I will be driving from albuquerque airport, about a 200 mile drive. I live in south louisiana where we never get harsh winters, so have no experience with northern driving. What should I prepair for? Best answer:It depends on how good your tires are, if they have at least half of the tread on them when they are new, then they are in pretty good condition for learning how to drive in snow. My suggestion to you is when you first find snow, get yourself into an empty parking lot without lightposts or anything that you could hit if and when you slide. Just drive and brake hard, accelerate hard, turn quickly and then learn how to recover from the skid. There is no better way to learn than to just do it because every car is different and the driving experience is dynamic. Just remember that when you are going straight a car tends to continue straight given the road isn't on a slant and you aren't accelerating or braking too quickly. When you turn make sure you are going a safe, controllable speed. Bring a shovel, a bag of sand or salt, and probably a sleeping bag in case you get stranded, although probably not likely in march of this year unless we get a snowstorm. I hope this was helpful. What's the best mountain town springtime weekend getaway in SW Colorado?Full question:My wife and 3yr old daughter are considering Telluride, Pagosa Springs, Montrose, Gunnison, Salida, and Buena Vista. Which would be best for a few days of relaxation, sight seeing and exploration? Best answer:We stayed in Silverton in a BB called "Christopher House", and at the time it was owned by a lovely Irish couple from Florida. We would recommend it highly. I need help planning my colorado vacation pls?Full question:im planning a july family trip to colorado. thinking about Creede, Pagosa Springs or South Fork. Which town is the prettiest and has the most activites ie. rafting, horse back riding and hiking? I also am looking for a small cabin for 3 nights that is around $85 to $100 a night. Any suggestions where to stay by the river? Best answer:I live in the Denver area but haven't been to any of the places you mentioned, (they are between 4-5 hours driving time from here), so I'm afraid I can't be of much help. With that said, I would choose Pagosa Springs because I read that there are about 25 waterfalls in the area that you can hike to. (I love to hike and I love waterfalls so I wish it wasn't so far from the Denver area!) Anyway, I actually have an article about Pagosa Springs that I saved from my AAA magazine, and from that, it sounds like you can do all the things that you say you want to do, and other things too. I guess there's also a place there called "Rocky Mountain Wildlife Park" where you can see and photograph native wildlife. The one thing I know about Creede is that there is a large and beautiful waterfall nearby called "North Clear Creek Falls", which they say is the most photographed waterfall in Colorado. I've seen pictures of it online and it looks really nice. From the mapquest website, I see that Creede is about 1 hour and 18 minutes from Pagosa Springs, so if you stayed in Pagosa Springs, you could still go to Creede and see North Clear Creek Falls. Anyway, have fun whatever you end up doing :-). BUT yesterday it was 73 so aslo bring shorts. heres a list 4 tees 3 shorts 2 pants 2 sweaters underwear bathroom stuff electronic stuff (help pass the time) games swimsuit (if you need it) camera tenners (shoes) raincoat A smile Any other pregnant women in Southwest Colorado or Northwest New Mexico?Full question:I am looking for pregnant moms in Southwest Colorado and Northwest New Mexico such as places like Durango, Pagosa Springs, South Fork, Farmington, Aztec etc. Where are you planning on delivering? Does the hospital where you are going allow a doula to be present? When are you due? I'm just trying to get a feel for what's going on in this area. Thanks ladies!!! Best answer:I'm in Castle Rock (off I-25 between Denver and Colorado Springs), so a little north of you--well, alot north of you. I have a midwife who is actually in Colorado Springs. She see's people in Pueblo and further south too. I am due at the end of October. I don't know much about the hospitals and about doula's being present at the birth, but just wanted to let you know you aren't the only prego in Colorado. :) Does Wolf Creek charge to put bindings on snowboards?Full question:Wolf Creek Ski Resort (Pagosa Springs Colorado). We're driving up there with like 6 snowboards and my dad may not be coming & the rest of us don't know how to put bindings on snowboards. SO I was wondering if anyone knew if Wolf Creek's Snowboard Rental shop charges to put the bindings on the boards. Best answer:It takes 5 minutes. Do it yourself. Powered by Yahoo!
