Snow Skiing Questions

The following questions were posted in Yahoo's 'Snow Skiing' category:

What time of year is the best snowfall for skiing Vail/Summit/Steamboat Springs? i.e. early winter/spring?

Full question:

I like to ski in powder, so I would like to know when each resort area in Colorado gets the best snowfall.

Best answer:

Having lived in Steamboat for a number of years, November is hit or miss. We have had incredible openings (always the day before Thanksgiving...Scholarship Day for the SSWSC), but have also had plenty where only a few runs are open. If there's snow early in the season, go in early to mid December as the crowds are non-existent. Otherwise, shoot for non-holiday times (not MLK or Pres Wnkd) in Jan or to mid Feb. Have fun!

What month is the best time to go skiing in Utah?

Full question:

I am planning a ski trip for this spring with a group of my friends (mid 20's) to the area around Park City, Utah. What time of year is the best time to go skiing in Utah? I've been skiing in Utah in late March twice and the weather was warm, but we didn't get any powder days. I am looking for the best time for some good powder, weather that isn't freezing, and lines that aren't crazy long.

Best answer:

mid to late march. but i recommend not just going to park city, but branching out a little. there are really good resorts that are far less touristy and crowded than park city, and have better snow. snowbird is in nearby little cottonwood canyon and is my favorite. it's good pretty much year round.

I want to move. Where should I go?

Full question:

It looks like the warm and wet weather has messed up all of the ski hills in southern Ontario. I'm also bored of all of the baby hills in this area and want to ride on some real mountains, in powder. I want to go some place where I can snowboard 3 times a week and not worry about crappy spring weather so early. So where should I move? I'm thinking Vancouver.

Best answer:

VANCOUVERRRRRRRRR!!!!!!! YES GO!!!! omfg i wanna move ther so bad!, theyve got a amazing city and the most amazing mountains in the world, and a beach! so one day u can go to the beach( summer) and the next day u can go snowboarding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
