I was just wondering if anyone knows how much it would cost to buy a buffalo. We live up in Minnesota and yes I have seen them. Best answer:Likly about a grand each. About as much as a calf. Although Bulls can cost up to about 15 grand, but cow meat is a much more valueable so a good stud is very costly, but I can't think of much to do with a buffalo. Anyone know the best way to make crispy buffalo wings at home?Full question:I have an oven, stove, and toaster oven (small), all electric, and am looking for the best way to make buffalo wings/buffalo chicken breasts (it's in my freezer, will cut to make them smaller) that are a little crispy on the outside? Looking for medium heat. Best answer:Ok...here it is. I worked at a pizza place near Buffalo, NY that served chicken wings. They were pretty close to the Anchor Bar's. Deep fry wings (about a dozen) for 12 mintues at 350 degrees (drop the wings at 375 degrees - the oil temperture will drop quite a bit.) I would also use vegetable oil. For the sauce: 6 tablespoons franks red hot 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup butter 1 tablespoon cider vinegar 1/8 teaspoon celery seeds 1/8 teaspoon garlic salt 1 dash black pepper 1/4 tsp worcestershire Heat the butter and brown sugar together until they melt and come together. Dump a little of the hot sauce into the mix after you turn off the heat. Mix together everything else and season to taste. This will be a medium sauce. Toss with wings as soon as they come out of the fryer. Use bleu cheese (not ranch - I don't know who came up that one!) Enjoy! How would you cook a buffalo round steak?Full question:It's about an inch thick and very lean, about 1.2 pounds and labeled "top round" buffalo. I am thinking about using my favorite London Broil mustard marinade and broiling it, but I'd rather try something new. Any recipes or advice? Best answer:Seasoned with your favorite spices ( you must include garlic & fresh ground black pepper - anything else can be optional), then blackened on a cast iron skillet or griddle - cooked medium/rare......some steamed new potatos & baby peas would go great as some sides or choose your faves....... What should I serve with a buffalo mozzarella salad?Full question:I am planning on having some friends over for a nice supper and some wine, but I want to have a great menu prepared. I would like to make a buffalo mozzarella salad with tomatoes, basil and olive oil, but I don't know what else to make. I was thinking maybe a pork loin, but I am unsure of that also. I also want some ideas to side dishes and deserts. Thanks! Best answer:The salad should be the side. Try a nice meaty philly with chipotle cheese. Add a slaw. For dessert, try a fresh fruit tart to cool down the spiciness of the meal. Grapes, blueberries, strawberries, and poppy seeds to compliment the crunch of the strawberry seeds. BW's have tons of big screens, but you want to get a good spot. How do you make Buffalo chicken legs?Full question:I have about 10 chicken legs. Does anyone have a good Buffalo chicken legs recipe? Thanks I would like the legs to be crispy. Best answer:Pat the legs very dry and then add salt/pepper/cayenne to taste. Fry the legs in 375 degree peanut until golden brown - around 20 minutes. Melt 1/4 cup butter and add 1/2 cup Frank's Original Red Hot sauce but don't bring it to a boil, just heat it through. If Tuna is chicken of the sea, what is chicken of the air?Full question:Are Buffalo wings made from chicken or buffalo? If Tuna is chicken of the sea, and chicken is of the land, what is chicken of the air? Best answer:'Tuna is chicken of the sea, and chicken is of the land, what is chicken of the air?' Actually, I think that it's this way. Tuna is the chicken of the sea and chicken is the tuna of the land. Were Buffalo ever native or indigenous to the state of California and or the other western states?Full question:Were Buffalo ever native or indigenous to the state of California and or the other western states? If not, where was their range of habitat? Best answer:I don't think that they were ever native to California. Buffalo thrive on open grassland like prairies. The Rockies would have limited their western range; but I'm sure that they went at least as far as Wyoming. What is a good recipe for buffalo?Full question:My husband and I had gotten on a health food kick a while back and opted for buffalo instead of beef, but I never knew how to fix it really good so I never did. I would like to do something with it (not to mention it wasn't cheap) and BTW we aren't being healthy anymore, so does anyone have any ideas on how to use it? And please, nothing creative. I get as creative as making my own spaghetti sauce and that's about it. Best answer:Buffalo meat is lower in fat than beef; therefore, it cooks faster than beef and can become dry if over cooked. That's why it's important to always remember "Low and slow is the way to go!" As a general rule, buffalo should be cooked about 50 degrees lower than beef, but for the same amount of time. Also, buffalo meat is best when cooked from rare to medium. Never cook directly in a flame. Mustard Short Ribs 4 lbs. ribs 1/3 c. prepared mustard (I just use regular yellow mustard) 1 T. sugar 2 T. lemon juice t. salt 1/2 t. pepper 2 cloves of crushed garlic 4 medium onions, sliced Place buffalo ribs in shallow baking dish. Mix mustard, sugar, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and garlic; pour over the ribs. Top with onions. Cover and refrigerate, turning ribs occasionally, for 4 to 24 hours. Place ribs with marinade and onions in Dutch oven or any other oven proof baking dish, and cook at 350 degrees for about 2 hours. Check for tenderness. Cook longer, if necessary, for 10-minute intervals until the ribs are tender. Buffalo Meat Loaf 2 eggs beaten ½ c. milk ½ c. crushed saltine crackers or Italian bread crumbs ¼ c. dried onion 2 Tbsp. Parsley 1 t. salt½ t. sage 1 ½ lb. Ground Buffalo Mix above ingredients well. Pat into a greased loaf pan. Bake for 1¼ hrs. at 325 degrees. Combine: ¼ c. ketchup2 T. brown sugar 1 t. dried mustard Spread over meat loaf and bake another 10 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees F. (Serves 6-8) Is it worth going to Buffalo to get good deals on clothing and shoes?Full question:I live in Toronto, Ontario. I am looking into planning a trip to Buffalo to go shopping. I would be looking for a new pair of Birkenstocks, and Uggs, and clothis like Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, American Eagle, Lulemon, Charlotte Russe, Hot Topic, etc. Would it be worth going to Buffalo to get a good deal on these items? I am a female, of average weight if that helps. Best answer:Yes, it's worth it. However, if you can spare the gas, Pennsylvania has an even lower sales tax than New York (6% compared to 8.875%), and no tax on clothing. (The Millcreek Mall in Erie is right over the NY/PA state line, too.) Just thought I'd throw that out there. Drive safely; the QEW can get nuts on the weekends. ;-) Is it possible to buy buffalo mozzarella FRESH in North America?Full question:I went to two local Italian delis today and they only had sealed buffalo mozzarella from Campania that is packaged up for long-term storage and sale. The expiry date is one year from the packaging date. I used to live in Italy so I'm totally hooked on fresh buffalo mozzarella, and I don't like the idea of it being packed up for a year. Have you ever seen REALLY fresh buffalo mozzarella in North America? Does anyone know if buffalo mozzarella is produced anywhere in North America? As a side question, is there such a thing as bison or ox cheese? I've seen yak cheese that was made by Tibetan monks, but I don't recall ever seeing a North American buffalo, bison or ox cheese. To reach an "Italian district" I would have to travel 500+ miles, unfortunately! I live in Calgary, Alberta. Yes, I am fully aware that buffalo mozzarella comes from water buffalo. I have been to a buffalo farm in Campania. However, I was just ALSO interested in knowing whether bison and ox are used to produce cheese as well, seeing as I already know that yak cheese exists. Best answer:I always thought that the buffalo in question was a water buffalo not the one that once roamed the great plains . Anyway you may want to try DiPalo's on grand &hester in NYC area code 212 there is a guy on arthur avenue in the bronx that i know for a fact makes it every day but the name escapes me at the moment- google arthur avenue you may also want to check w/ murrays cheese on bleeker st in manhattan - if they don't know no -one in NYC does and last but not least D' Andrea's on cermak and harlem ave in berwyn IL 708- 484-8121 remember the junk cars piled up on a spike in Wayne's World ? How do I make breaded buffalo chicken wings?Full question:I have a packet of buffalo seasoning, and I am planning on making buffalo wings this evening, but my wife and I both prefer breaded chicken, instead of just seasoned. Should we just mix the seasoning with flour and then bread like we normally would, or is there a better way of doing it? Best answer:I made buffalo wings last weekend and I highly recommend this recipe. You may use boneless chicken as well or wing sections. I got rave reviews and they are better than any restaurant version I've tried. They come out crispy and just the right amount of heat. It's from Recipezaar and it's the Hooters recipe. Excellent!! Ingredients: 1/4 cup butter 1/4 cup louisiana hot sauce 1 dash pepper, Ground 1 dash garlic powder 1/2 cup flour 1/4 teaspoon paprika 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1/4 teaspoon salt 10 chicken wings bleu cheese salad dressing celery vegetable oil, for frying Directions 1. Combine the flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt in a small bowl. 2. If the wings are frozen, be sure to defrost and dry them. 3. Put the wings into a large bowl and sprinkle the flour mixture over them, coating each wing evenly. 4. Put the wings in the refrigerator for 60 to 90 minutes. (This will help the breading to stick to the wings when fried.) 5. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 375 degrees. 6. You want just enough oil to cover the wings entirely -- an inch or so deep at least. Combine the butter, hot sauce, ground pepper, and garlic powder in a small saucepan over low heat. Heat until the butter is melted and the ingredients are well blended. 7. Put all the wings into the hot oil and fry them for 10 to 15 minutes or until some parts of the wings begin to turn dark brown. 8. Remove the wings from the oil to a paper towel to drain. 9. But don't let them sit too long, because you want to serve the wings hot. Quickly put the wings into a large bowl. 10. Add the hot sauce and stir, coating all the wings evenly. 11. You could also use a large plastic container with a lid for this. 12. Put all the wings inside the container, add the sauce, put on the lid, then shake. Serve with Bleu cheese dressing and celery sticks on the side. What is the hottest buffalo wing sauce out there?Full question:I currently use frank's red hot buffalo, and I love the flavor, but it's really weak. I've found a few others like anchor bar suicidal and defcon, but none of them say what the scoville rating is, so I don't know how hot they are or if it's all hot with no flavor. I'm not looking for the blair's 16m or anything like that. Just a very very hot sauce with good buffalo flavor. Probably well up in the thousands if not 5 digits on the scoville. Best answer:Duff's on the corner of Sheridan and Millersport in Amherst has a really hot sauce. Superhot is rediculously hot, and there are two levels above that. What is the difference between bison and buffalo?Full question:I am study bison and buffalo for an assignment and am needing a little help with a few quetsions.. Best answer:Hi there both the same.Check out this link http://www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/american_bison Good Luck What is the difference between buffalo mozzarella and regular mozzarella?Full question:I saw the previous answer to this same question asked a year ago by someone else, and NO, buffalo mozzarella is NOT spicy. I would like to know, from a "foodie", how one could describe to one's customers, the difference between fresh or buffalo mozzarella, and regular mozzarella cheese. Best answer:Having obtained my foodie license 3 days ago, I feel obliged to answer. fresh Buffalo mozzarella is a bit softer, creamier, and stringier in texture. It's taste is more robust, saltier, and full-flavored, tasting a bit 'closer to the animal'. It also has a higher fat and protein content (although it has less cholesterol) and is all-around better in my opinion! but it does cost a little bit more unfortunately. P.S. it is indeed NOT spicy as well. unless you find it in indian food. It should not be this difficult. If I personally go to the Canadian consulate in Buffalo, NY, near the Falls, and apply for a visitor's visa how long til I get the visa? Best answer:Well...firstly..you can't apply for a visa for someone else-they have to sign the forms themselves-this can take several days/weeks for processing so it might be best if she filled out the necessary paperwork and gets this done before she leaves India (if she hasn't left already).Canada does not issue "visitor visas" as such-she would require a "Temporary Resident Visa".according to the chart in the second link Canadian visa processing times in India are actually faster than they are in Buffalo. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/apply-how.asp http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp/visitors.asp How to restore a knife handle made of buffalo horn?Full question:I am currently restoring a knife that was from my grandfather.
