Is there space for skis on Japanese train?

I am going skiing in Sahoro in Dec and would like to bring my own skis. Will there be any problem bringing my skis on the train? Is there any space? Any advice is appreciated.

If you are arriving late in the day in say Tokyo, then it is worthwhile looking into delivery services.They are reliable and punctual,it may be possible to have your gear picked up when you arrive and delivered overnight (if you are staying in a city overnight) then when you arrive they will be at your lodgings.Check the internet for details.
