Snow Skiing Questions

The following questions were posted in Yahoo's 'Snow Skiing' category:

What is the skiing like in Italy?

Full question:

I am going to the ski resort called 'Abetone' so any information on that would be much appreciated!

Best answer:

Skiing in Italy can be great! I lived in Europe for ten years and worked in Outdoor Recreation for the Army, so I got around, lol. I can offer some really good advice. It sounds like you already chose where you are going, so I'll skip the "where to go" thing. (Are your plans carved in stone?) Here's some stuff to remember. Europe is not the US, many differences, most are very pleasureable. However, depending on where exactly you are going, you need to know some things. Ski Rentals: If you are planning to rent, be prepared to get dull edged raggedy crap. So unless you have your own equipment, do whatever it takes to tell them you want high end, TUNED skis. There are a lot of variables concerning snow, and it doesn't look like Abetone is in the Alps. So, don't count on snow, sorry. With luck you will have some, but only the Alps are reliable. Abetone is for beginners and intermediates, which means it is not high. Do you ski well? You might look into alternate places to drive to, if you will have a car, just in case. Feel free to contact me if you'd like, I loved skiing Europe, know a lot of easy helpful hints, like to know I can help people enjoy their trips, and, well, I am of 100% Italian descent, lol. When I skied Italy, it was Amoretto shots and Cappocinos everywhere! LOL. Italians are nice, and at least you won't be in France. LOL!

skiing in italy, I have booked flights in February to Pisa, I am looking to ski in Tuscany, can anyone?

Questions from Other Categories

The following questions were posted in various Yahoo's categories other than 'Snow Skiing' - hopefully they are relevant:

Is the ski resort 'Abetone' any good?

Full question:

we are going in febuary so if you could tell us if that is a good time to go it would be much appreciated

Best answer:

Hi, I'm from Pisa and I often went there to ski. It's OK. Maybe with a little crowd out the normal(to the ski lifts),in the week end,due to the skiers going there from the cities ,but, this happens in all the other similar places too. You can ski there, and, tasting the good Tuscan and Emilia cooking.Having time,in almost one hour and half, you can visit Lucca,or Pisa and other interesting spots. I wish you a good stay. Bye.
