Overview

Cannon Mountain opened in 1938, with the first aerial tramway in north america. The tramway was replaced with the current (70 passenger) tram in 1980. The mountain is located within Franconia Notch State Park, and is owned and operated by the state of New Hampshire.

Cannon Mountain has a quite a good vertical rise (2,185ft). As a guide, skiers will typically stop 3 or 4 times when skiing top to bottom. Cannon Mountain has mostly intermediate and advanced runs so beginners may find it a little challenging. With 60 trails, it will take quite some time to explore the entire ski area.
