Located just 40 minutes from Salt Lake City along the very scenic Big Cottonwood Canyon Road, the Solitude ski resort lives up to its name. On first sight one can be forgiven for thinking they’ve been transported over the Atlantic to a small village somewhere in Swiss alps. Solitude easily outdoes its neighboring resorts on charm. Solitude Mountain has a quite a good vertical rise (2,047ft). As a guide, skiers will typically stop 3 or 4 times when skiing top to bottom. Solitude Mountain has mostly intermediate and advanced runs so beginners may find it a little challenging. With 64 trails, it will take quite some time to explore the entire ski area.
